Hi, I'm Lucy, I am 28 years old.
I have been a member of 'The Comeback' for 1 year, 7 months.
Before attending, I was involved with a local support group 'Addaction' and then I got introduced to 'The Comeback' by one of my support workers.
Aged 13 years old, I started becoming an addict, but didn't realise this at the time. I had struggled with depression and anxiety throughout my life.
During my addiction I lost 2 of my children to the Care System and my oldest child lives with my Father. I have always seen my oldest child, but since being in recovery I have seen her a lot more.
Most of my family didn`t want to know me before, but now I have my family back in my life.
On a previous attempt in recovery, I got to 14 months, then I relapsed.
I thought I was going to be judged and was scared to go back, but the other members supported me and helped me to realise that the relapse was part of the process.
Since then I have found it easier to work on my recovery as I have the support of other people in recovery who can understand me.
I am no longer moving around all the time, I have a home and I now manage my finances and pay my bills on time.
In active addiction, I tried so many times to take my own life, but being in recovery has helped me to realise that there is a life out there for me.
Being free from addiction has made me become a better person and a better Mum.
