A safe, non-judgemental and honest environment where long term recovery from addiction is possible.
'Our 'Recovery Community' in Grimsby offers those in abstinence a place where they can be given trust, responsibility, and ownership and be empowered to make positive life choices, as well as raising awareness and providing education to the wider community'.
Although there is support for people still in active addiction there is very little support or activities for people who are in a programme of abstinence.
There are no sober drop in services, no recovery cafes or Dry Bars locally.
We recognise the development of a local 'Recovery Community' as the ideal opportunity for us to help change that.
Like-minded people can come together to socialise and support each other through their similar experiences and throughout their journey of recovery.
Our unique pioneering walk-in service located in the heart of Grimsby, close to public transport links and accessible to people across North East Lincolnshire is a safe, non-judgemental and honest environment where long term recovery from addiction is possible.
We are empowering members over the age of 18 and in abstinence-based recovery, to take ownership from the very start by strengthening the skillset and self-esteem of those in abstinence. We want to recognise the strengths in each individual and support them in gathering experience in whatever area they wish to pursue.
Training
One of the aims of our community is to train people so that they have the confidence to take responsibility for their own recovery and create new roles within the recovery community in the future.
As part of the training process we organise visits to other similar services throughout the UK.
All those in abstinence, when ready are also trained in the delivery of all SAFE peer support groups and Creative Start workshops.
We do this through external training and on site workshops delivered by experienced professionals.
We are also building a strong network of skilled and experienced 'mentors', trainers and other professionals who are also in recovery.
